Ireland is the third-largest island in Europe situated in the Irish Sea to the North-West of Continental Europe. The Island is separated into two distinct regions; Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, each with their own respective governments. The Republic of Ireland became a Republic in 1949 when it left the commonwealth, the Republic of Ireland is now more commonly reffered to as Ireland. Since joining the European Union in 1973 Ireland has undergone rapid development and is now one of the most properous countries in the EU. The population of Ireland is around 4.2 million people with roughly 1.8 million living in the North of Ireland.
Language
Irish people are very proud of their culture and heritage and this is shown by the fact that Gaeilge is still considered the national language, despite English being the most widely spoken language. The country's national anthem, Amhran na bhFiann, is even sung in Gaeilge;

The topic selected was the theme of 'World'. This topic was chosen because of the multi-cultural backgrounds of the team members in this group. The team members in this group have backgrounds from three different continents and it was decided that a sample of each of these continents would be displayed on these Wiki pages.
Reflection
This assignment proved to be an interesting process and although the task of putting the pages together was not difficult, it proved time consuming to edit the pages into an acceptable format.
